Finding Blackpool Hotels

by Trevor Sinclair

Blackpool is a medium-sized seaside resort in north-western England with miles of deep sandy beaches. When people think of England, they normally think of a city such as London or Cambridge instead of Blackpool. With only 140,000 inhabitants, compared to London, Blackpool is small. However, tourists flock to the city as summer ends and Blackpool hotels fill. The tourists come not just for the sand but also for the Blackpool Illuminations, the main tourist attraction in the city since 1879.

Illuminations are always changing and evolving. They are sometimes called "artificial sunshine" because of this. Every year, the colors are different from the previous year. Lately, the emphasis has been energy efficiency and environmental awareness. Illuminations produces a calendar of events year-round, providing something for people of all ages.

The Illuminations is from late August to early November, which is considered the busiest season for the town. At this time, Blackpool hotels are fully booked, so in case you are thinking about making any hotel reservations for that time, especially if its at the Blackpool family hotels, it is better to reserve them at the earliest.

It is indeed fortunate for the traveler. Hotels in Blackpool have a wide variety of accommodations to meet your travel needs. There are five-star short-stay rental apartments, and also similar luxury hotels. You can also find accommodations to suit the budget conscious traveler. You can even stay at a family-run bed-and-breakfast. Such a variety in Blackpool hotels!

But as man does not live by bread alone, Blackpool is more than just the Illuminations. It is home to many first rate restaurants and boasts one of England's most varied and longest theater seasons: from circus performances and illusionists to opera and West End musicals, not to mention it being a stop on many major musicians' tours. Blackpool also boasts a water park, an amusement park, a zoo, and some of the highest outdoor climbing walls in the United Kingdom. And that's not even mentioning the expanse of sandy beaches the city has to offer.

It's important to remember that if you are planning to visit Blackpool during the Illuminations and want to stay in the city, you need to book your lodgings early if you want to get a good price and have some choice in where you stay. And don't forget to experience some of the other treats that Blackpool offers. You'll have a memorable holiday.

Blackpool is a small town located on the northwestern coast of England, and is home to the Blackpool Illuminations festival that occurs every fall. This event is unique and changes annually to keep things entertaining for all ages. August through November is always busy for Blackpool hotels so book early if you are planning to come. There are wide arrays of hotels in Blackpool available; from five star apartments to a Blackpool family hotel or bed and breakfast. Blackpool also offers other vacation attractions such as a magic, music and theater performances. So book early and come enjoy the Illuminations Festival and all that the local culture has to offer.
