Anniversary Gifts That Your Sweetheart Will Love

by Markus Jones

Been married only 4 months and looking 8 months ahead as any consummate planner does I am not sure what to offer my new bride for our wedding anniversary; can not go the standard roses routine since I already did that for our wedding day.

Every year the same question comes into play another year, another question what to give as an Anniversary gift, seems that at this point in our relationship, the free calender I got at work mentions that a relationship of our length merits clocks. In younger times a traditionalist would have offered paper. Well, being at traditionalist at heart, a paper clock would be appropriate or maybe a pad of paper clocks.

Do you know what the traditional gift for your next anniversary will be? China? Cotton? Leather? Florists will assure you at length that a fantastic anniversary present would be a sizeable bouquet of long-stemmed roses. The fact that they are making a big profit on a dozen measly (but expensive) flowers, however, will probably not come up.

The wedding anniversary gifts list on my calendar ends at fifteenth and jumps to the twentieth. What's up with that? What do you get for your nineteenth anniversary? I would imagine that after that long, the magic of it all sort of fades and you're stuck with the dreaded "practical gift."

A "practical gift" is one that hardly seems worth gift wrapping, like a light bulb or a dust mop. You will never get a romantic embrace after giving a practical gift. However, such gifts let your wife know that you know that your home needs and are willing to take the time and effort to get it yourself rather than add to her duties.

If you don't have the money or the time to do anything more elaborate, you can make "love coupons" from your sticky notes at work, each good for some token of your love. Good examples include doing the dishes and back rubs. These are romantic equivalents of the practical gift, and most women will love that you care enough about them to do something that really helps them in a tangible way.

With luck, you now have a few ways to treat your sweetheart well. As for myself, while I have any number of things I could get my wife for our anniversary, I know that she loves roses, so that's what she will get.
